7 and 1/2 weeks OR Day 54

Wow. Wow. Wow.  That is all I can say.  It has been 7 and 1/2 weeks since I started my journey to a #newmein2017.  54 Days!  I have truly surprised myself in a good way and it continues to make me so very happy. I have learned to be patient.  I have learned that I am capable of so much more.  For years I used every excuse I could think of as to why I was unable to exercise and lose weight.  My back hurt. My knee hurt. My ankle hurt. Healthy food was too expensive.  I didn't like water.  You name it, I gave it as an excuse.

NO MORE!!

I have a workout routine that I use daily.  I try to only take one day off from workouts a week.  I am committed.  I have the passion and the drive to do better and do more.  I have more energy, and increased sex drive, I am happier and I can't tell you other than for something special, the last time I actually sat down and watched TV.  A huge step from someone that spent years just sitting on the couch watching TV more than anything else.

I love being able to get outside and walk.  It is refreshing after being inside at work all day.  I have time to think and reflect.  I have my favorite places to walk, suggested by a friend, that I go to on most days.  Usually I walk at the National Museum of the Marine Corps on the Semper Fi Memorial Trail.  Other days, when I want a change, I go to Locust Shade Park and walk the Palmer Trail.  Yesterday I started out walking on the Semper Fi Memorial Trail and then took the path that links the trail to Locust Shade Park.  The path winds through the woods and comes out on the far side of the lake.  I walked the far side of the lake, following the path, over to the amphitheater and then back to the Semper Fi trail.  It was a total of 2.34 miles, on terrain that had quite a few inclines.  It felt wonderful.

I can remember living in Wyoming and going on hikes with my dad on Muddy Mountain.  OMG!  I hated them, because I was so out of shape I couldn't keep up and that was embarrassing.  My sisters and I still call them his "Bataan Death Marches!"  Truth be told, I could do them now and would enjoy spending that time with my daddy.

I am specifically looking for free weight exercises to try and reduce the flab on my arms.  If you have any suggestions please leave them in the comments of THIS BLOG NOT MY FACEBOOK POST!!

Today is a beautiful day and I plan on leaving school at 3:00 and going to do the walk from the Memorial trail over to Locust Shade Park and then back.  I may end up walking a little more at Locust Shade today because I do not have to sell athletic tickets at school tonight so I am not on a time schedule.

Next week I will be at one or the other at 11:30 everyday except Wednesday to walk earlier.  I usually walk in the afternoon, sell tickets until between 7:15-8:00 and then home to lift weights and then shower and bed.

If you have suggestions for what weights I can add or change things up to be more effective, since I am new to all of this, please feel free to share suggestions, again in the comment son THIS BLOG.

Thank you to everyone for your continue support and motivation.  To my sister Sherie, for sending me a meme everyday that is motivational.  You don't know how much I appreciate those...I look at them when I start to doubt and it goes away.

Here are some pics from my outing and workout yesterday.  Enjoy!
