Workout Results and New Books to Read!

My results are not as great as I would like them to be but they are far better than what I was expecting, considering I have not been in the gym but one time since June....(think swimming in the pool all summer instead of sweating in the gym). I do have to keep reminding myself that it is for the better me that I can be.

Now, on to my other favorite subject to talk about....BOOKS!!  There are so many great books that I have read lately I have several to share with you.

First Up:  Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff.
🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢(I give this 5 Turtles)

This is the first book in the Illuminae Files.  I have to admit I had been avoiding this book for awhile because I typically do not like Sci-Fi books.  Funny, that I love sci-fi movies but not the books.  However, I listened to my co-worker and several students and started reading it.  Boy am I glad I did.  This book is phenomenal!! The authors wrote it in a dossier format....think pictures, text messages, emails, schematics, military files, IM/s, medical reports, reports translating what happens on a video feed, and even the AI (artificial intelligence) computer on the space ship, AIDEN, talking to others and himself.

The following is the synopsis for the book on Goodreads:
This morning, Kady thought breaking up with Ezra was the hardest thing she’d have to do. This afternoon, her planet was invaded.

The year is 2575, and two rival mega-corporations are at war over a planet that’s little more than an ice-covered speck at the edge of the universe. Too bad nobody thought to warn the people living on it. With enemy fire raining down on them, Kady and Ezra—who are barely even talking to each other—are forced to fight their way onto an evacuating fleet, with an enemy warship in hot pursuit.

But their problems are just getting started. A deadly plague has broken out and is mutating, with terrifying results; the fleet's AI, which should be protecting them, may actually be their enemy; and nobody in charge will say what’s really going on. As Kady hacks into a tangled web of data to find the truth, it's clear only one person can help her bring it all to light: the ex-boyfriend she swore she'd never speak to again.

I guarantee you will LOVE this book.  I did.  I liked the atypical style that the authors used.  I enjoyed how the different formats kept the story flowing instead of making it long and drawn out.  And because I am a girl, I loved the hint of romance that spreads across the entire story.  I was cheering Kady on as she found her inner bad ass girl strength and got angry or sad with her.
