The Disappearing Librarian is BACK in the Gym!!
That's right…I am back in the gym. Today I decided I had to get back in the gym. I haven't gained any of my weight back, but I had slowed down on losing. Total so far….110lbs since February 2017. I want to lose between 85-100 more pounds. To do that I have to be back in the gym and working out….even as much as I hate cardio. I also have a friend that has said they would be willing to come to my fitness center and look at my workouts and what equipment I use and have available to use and then show me how to maximize my workouts….without having to pay a personal trainer….I think that is awesome sauce!!
People have been asking me lately how I have managed to lose that much weight and keep it off. So I shared how I have done it…without any named diet or buying expensive diet foods…although buying groceries for a healthier lifestyle is more expensive….you end up eating less so it goes farther.
1. I cut out the soda when I first started. I used frozen no sugar added fruit and put it in a insulated cup with ice and water. Pineapple is my fave because it sweetens the water slightly, but any fruit works…I also like raspberries, strawberries, lemon, peaches, and mango.
2. Cut out the bread or at least eat it sparingly…you DO NOT NEED BREAD AT EVERY MEAL!!
3. Eat lots of protein, meats are amazing and can be seasoned various ways. Fish, steak, pork, ground chuck, chicken, lamb. Use Pinterest for recipe ideas.
4. Veggies. Veggies, and more Veggies. I love the spring and summer months because I can go to the local Farmers Market and buy fresh veggies. But Lidl and Aldi have good veggies. Also, teach yourself how to can or freeze them. The best gift I ever got was my foodsaver. I can freeze veggies and buy meat in bulk and freeze it in smaller portions.
5. Take your lunch to work!
6. Avoid fast food whenever possible and try to eat healthier if you HAVE to eat fast food. Most fast food restaurants have healthy options these days.
7. Do not cut sweets out entirely (unless you are diabetic), one small sweet a day is fine…remember it is all about portion control. Eat one or two cookies, but save the for when you will really crave them…usually at night after dinner. Fruits are great for those sweet snacks too.
8. Try to have breakfast every day…it does not have to be a full course one, yogurt and a banana, or even oatmeal will be fine.
9. Have a healthy snack in the late morning and early afternoon. Grapes, or a cup of popcorn or handful of mixed nuts will work wonders.
10. Be kind and find motivation. My friends keep me motivated. I Keep a fitness journal for my workouts everyday and I always find a motivational fitness quote to write in it as well.
*@*@Be sure to take progress photos and get measured before you start…at some points you will not lose actual pounds and may gain some but you are losing inches and gaining muscle which is WHAT YOU WANT TO DO!!*@*@
***CUT OUT THE EVERY DAY STARBUCKS!!! high calories aside, its expensive and you can make your own coffee with a flavored creamer that is cheaper and healthier. Plus you can then use the money you save to buy workout gear and new clothes as those pounds start falling off.**
Good luck and please keep me posted if you embark on a healthier lifestyle. Remember this, fad diets and even diet corporations are designed to fail….otherwise they would lose $$. They want you to get on it, pay them, get confident and go off it and then fail so you have to go back on it and pay them again. It really is a lifestyle change and you have to be committed.
