YA Books: When Dimple Met Rishi and Learning to Swear in America
Another GREAT book I have read is When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon 🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢 Menon's YA novel about becoming a young adult while following your dreams and passions and doing all this while dealing with your parent's Indian culture is amazing! She welcomes the reader into the lives of Dimple and Rishi, introduces us to their families, and gives us some insight into the culture of being Indian in America. While Dimple's mother wants her to focus on her beauty and looks in order to snag herself an Indian Husband, Dimple wants nothing more than to follow her dreams and become an amazing coder. She has been accepted at Stanford and wants to attend Insomnia Con in San Francisco, a summer program that allows participants to submerse themselves into coding in order to win the competition at the end and possibly meet Dimple's coding idol.
